A week ago today marked the 6th annual Fitzies Awards.  Created by Natayla Waye, the award show was to show appreciation for all the hard work done in each media outlet for the Fitzwater Center for Communications.  Station Manager Nicholas Caramico took over control of the Fitzies last year and created videos for each award with orchestral music in the background.

The different outlets honored were FPTV-25, Franklin Pierce Radio, the Pierce Arrow, Ravens’ Sports Network, and the Fitz Online.  This year’s theme was based off the Academy Awards.

FPTV-25 had six different categories ranging from best talent to crew member of the year.  Most of the votes were close and the results were as follows:

Show of the Year – Kool Kidz

Host of the Year – Joe Landini (The Joe Show)

Excellence in Editing – Eric Taverna (Kool Kidz)

Male Talent of the Year – Casey Williams (Kool Kidz)

Female Talent of the Year – Ally Billingsley (The Joe Show)

Crew Member of the Year – Bobby Driscoll

Junior Eric Taverna won two Fitzies for his efforts on Kool Kidz.  ”It felt good,” said Taverna.

Ground Pound, FPTV’s NFL talk show, also received a Fitzie for Outstanding Sports Program in the Ravens’ Sports Network division.

As a final goodbye, Landini filmed his last episode of The Joe Show last week.  This hour long episode will play throughout the summer.  Billingsley will be taking over for Joe with her new show called The Ally Show.

Next year’s Fitzies will most likely continue the theme of the Academy Awards.  It will also be the last Fitzie awards for five of the current FPTV executive board members before graduation.

Although the Fitzies celebrates the end of the year for the Pierce Media Group, all outlets will continue to work hard throughout the summer and into the Fall 2011 semester.  Overall, this year’s Fitzies was the most successful of all time.
