FPTV will only be showing one movie for the month of May due to the semester coming to an end; however, the movie selected is a real knockout winner.

The FPTV executive board has selected The Fighter to be played during the month of May.  This Academy Award nominated movie is based off the true story of Micky Ward’s climb to the top to the welterweight boxing title.  Micky has to also fight against problems with his brother and other family members.  Micky’s brother, Christian Bale, is his trainer who use to box, but became addicted to drugs.  Micky’s girlfriend, Amy Adams, is not accepted by the rest of his family results in conflict throughout the movie.

The movie had much success in box offices around the world, totaling just under $130 million.  The Academy Awards nominated The Fighter for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Editing; the movie won for Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress.  The movie’s success in the Academy Awards has brought interest to the nation and is a must see film.

Next year, FPTV will continue to select more new releases to be aired monthly.
