Station Manager’s Message to Freshmen
by Nick Caramico, FPTV Station Manager
Beginning college is definitely an interesting, fun, and once in a lifetime experience. It may not be the easiest thing to get used to, but in time, you will find your place on this campus. I know that I certainly have found mine.
I am from northern New Jersey, 15 minutes away from New York City. Coming to Franklin Pierce for me was a huge geographical shock. Things weren’t open 24/7, there are more trees and geese than buildings or people, and I had to pump my own gas. For some of you, there may not be that much getting used to, but there is always that initial time to adjust to a new way of life.
This University’s Television station helped my adjustment become a lot smoother than I anticipated.
My first week on campus I attended the full station meeting. Never having really worked with camera equipment, and certainly never editing a video, I admit it was a lot to take in, but I knew it was what I wanted to do.
Within the first month of my freshman year, I had helped crew on every entertainment show, assisted in filming a commercial for the Bubble, and even was a contestant on Roommatez. My interest in this field grew very quickly, and before long I was editing videos on my own and coming up to the station at night for a few hours to help film shows.
My sophomore year I produced two programs. The Boot and College Feud. I was Executive Producer of Commercials, and filmed unique commercials for clubs and shows. Junior year, I created the position of Online Director and expanded the stations presence outside the campus. I covered the 2009 MTVU Woodie Awards and produced the first daily show in which the station covered the 2010 Winter Olympics.
My history at this station is not unlike others before. Hard work, commitment, and of course fun go into making this station what it has evolved into.
I would like to invite any incoming freshman that is even mildly interested in television production to come to our full station meeting, September 3rd at 1:00 pm. There are so many opportunities here in the Fitzwater Center and we are truly a very welcoming family. I spend a lot of time with my current Executive Board and I am confident that this year will be a very successful one for this station.
Please don’t be intimidated to approach anyone on my staff, as they have all been in the same position you may be in. We welcome new ideas that may improve the station as we continue to grow.
This University may be small, but I know that I have received more hands on experience in this field than I would have gotten at a larger institution. I tell you my story so you can see all the opportunity that this station, the Pierce Media Group, the Fitzwater Center, and Franklin Pierce University has to offer.
So please, follow us on Twitter, Facebook, and visit this website. If you are not interested in being a part of the station, please watch channel 25 in your dorm rooms and see all the hard work your friends and peers are putting in. Thank You and stay tuned to all the big things to come.

I do not know whether it’s just me or if perhaps everybody else experiencing issues with your website. It seems like some of the written text on your posts are running off the screen. Can someone else please comment and let me know if this is happening to them as well? This may be a problem with my internet browser because I’ve had this happen before. Appreciate it
