There’s always a lot of information given on tours of campus, but like everything, there is certain information withheld from prospective students. This is a list of things I learned during my freshman year that was never mentioned on tour.
1. There is no I Tower.
2. Your ears will hurt every time you go in and out of the Bubble.
3. The best time to do laundry is around midnight or early in the morning.
4. The best time to go to dinner is 4:30. After 5, expect crazy lines to get in.
5. Don’t rely on Internet connection. Forget that Youtube and Hulu exist until at least 2 AM. Count on your connection to die right when you need it.
6. Expect a webpage to load in a minute, maybe longer on nights and weekends.
7. Market Basket is cheaper than Hannaford’s.
8. If the weather is anything but sunny, be careful on the bridge to the cafeteria. You will slip and fall at least once.
9. There’s no mail Saturday.
10. The caf doesn’t open until 11:30 on weekends. Earlier is better. Either way there will definitely be a line to get in.
11. Mr. Mike’s will become a frequent stop of yours, especially during late night study sessions.
12. Use your RavenCard in the pub or the bookstore instead of cash whenever possible.
13. Beware of Rindge Tinge.
14. Your room will almost always be too hot or too cold.
15. You’ll get acquainted with 5 AM quickly. And 4 AM and maybe even 3 AM. Always have a blanket and a sweatshirt handy for late night fire alarms, especially from October-April.
